Weer net op tijd voor Kerst!

En het was ook iets te warm om boven op mijn kamer te zitten. Maar toch begonnen met de challenge voor het Jingle Belles blog. De bedoeling was om een kaart te maken waar je een giftcard in kan stoppen. Ik heb mijn Silhouette SD laten werken en een doosje gemaakt waar een giftcard in kan. Het is nog steeds klein genoeg om in een bubbeltjes envelop te stoppen.

It's been so warm, almost hot, the last few days but I did want to make my gift card holder for the challenge on the Jingle Belles blog. I put a fan behind my chair to stay cool. I used my Silhouette SD to make a little box to put the gift card in. It's still small enough to put in a padded envelope if I want to.

Een jubilaris

Een collega van mij is op 1 juni 25 jaar in dienst. En wij maken/kopen altijd een kleinigheidje en doen dat in een grote mand die zij tijdens de koffie kan uitpakken. Zelfgemaakt is natuurlijk heel leuk dus ben ik vanmiddag ondanks de warmte toch maar aan de slag gegaan. Met een ventilator achter mijn rug was het nog wel vol te houden.
Ik heb een setje kaarten gemaakt met bijpassende envelop. Ik heb het simpel gehouden. En natuurlijk in de zelfde stijl ook een kaart voor de jubilaris.

I made this set of cards with matching envelopes for a co worker who celebrates her 25th anniversary this week. I remember when she started with us and that makes me feel old suddenly.
I kept the cards simple. They have all the same Dutch sentiment which reads " happy birthday".  I also made a card for her as an anniversary card with another Dutch sentiment.

12 tags of 2012, mei.

Gisteren tijd gemaakt om aan de tag van mei voor de "12 tags of 2012"  te beginnen. Ik heb er compleet iets anders van gemaakt dan Tim maar wel met één thema. Was weer erg leuk om te doen. Er zitten echte koffie bonen in het glazen potje.

I made time yesterday to make a tag for "12 tags of 2012". I used only products I already had and it turned out completely different from Tim's tag but I had fun making it. There are some real coffee beans in the little jar.

I bought the Starbucks stamp in a lovely stamp shop in Phoenix last year.

Color Blocking.

Sinds ik ben begonnen met het maken van scrapbook lay-outs en kaarten kijk ik meer om me heen voor inspiratie. Ik heb totaal geen grafische achtergrond, het creatieve komt me niet aangewaaid maar ik ben wel blij met mijn hobby en ik heb veel geleerd de afgelopen jaren. Zo ook voor deze kaart. In de Martha Stewart Living van mei staat een artikel over color-blocking en daar stond deze foto bij van een douche gordijn.

Ik vond de kleuren zo super dat ik er mijn Kerstkaarten voor deze week mee heb gemaakt. De Kertkaarten zijn voor het Jingle Belles blog en het thema/challenge van deze week was "embossing".

I'm a big fan of Martha Stewart and have a subscription to the Martha Stewart Living. In the May issue was an article about color blocking and I fell in love with the colors of the shower curtain. I used these colors for my Christmas cards. The challenge on the Jingle belles blog was to use embossing on your card.

Moederdag kaarten.

Vrijdag avond begonnen met de moederdagkaarten begonnen. Ik ben (alweer) een leuke online class " fold it, pop it, flip it" aan het volgen en daarin leer je weer een heleboel verschillende manieren om kaarten te maken. Deze kaart dus ook. We leerden hoe we de bloemen aan de binnenkant van deze kaarten moesten maken. Super leuk om te doen en niet moeilijk.

I made 2 cards for Mothersday, for my own mother and my mother in law. I'm following yet another online class, fold it, pop it, flip it, we learned how to make the flowers on the inside of these cards. I loved making the cards. Such a fun technique.

Een nieuw huis!

Dit is nog steeds huiswerk! Maar ik had ook een kaart nodig voor de ouders van een vriendin die verhuisd zijn.
Met de Silhouette kun je ook stof snijden. Ze hebben er zelfs speciaal soort vlieseline voor. Die ik dus niet heb. Ik heb mijn eigen strijk vlieseline gebruikt. Werkte goed, niet prima, maar goed. Ik moest zelf kleine stukjes losknippen. Maar ik heb wel mijn huis!.

More homework. I wanted to try and cut fabric but I didn't have the Silhouette interfacing so I used my regular interfacing. It worked, I just had to cut tiny bits myself but that's ok.

Gepimpte snoeppot.

Nog steeds bezig met de online class "a cut above", we zijn nu bezig met allerlei aspecten van de Silhouette SD (in mijn geval) en de Cameo = nog grotere Silhouette. Je kunt ook stof en vinyl snijden met de Silhouette en dat heb ik hier gedaan. Het is een simpel ontwerp, zelf gemaakt van rechthoeken, breed en smal en een lettertype dat ik in word heb staan, je kunt met de Silhouette nl. alle lettertypes die je op je computer hebt uitsnijden.

More homework for "a cut above".
I cut some vinyl to make a candy jar out of a regular jar. I love how the Silhouette cuts vinyl. Now for some candy! "snoep" means candy in Dutch.

Weer net op tijd

Begint eigenlijk een gewoonte te worden, op het laatste moment iets maken voor een challenge. En dan zit het idee voor je kaart eigenlijk al dagen in je hoofd maar beginnen, ho maar! Maar toch nog op tijd een kaart klaar voor de Jingle Belles blog. Ik had er 2 willen maken voor op de foto maar het is er tot nu maar één. Een tweede maak ik ook nog hoor. Ik heb papier gebruikt dat om een rol beschuiten zit. Het thema was om iets te hergebruiken op je kaart.

It's almost going to be a bad habit, making someting at the last moment for challenges. And I had the idea to use this ribbled paper in my head for a week.It's the wrapping paper for Dutch crisp bakes ( recycled, reused bit).This is my card for the Jingle Belles blog challenge. I was going to make 2 but ran out of time. But I'll make a second one today.
